I want to track, mix and produce your next record.

But before things go too far I have to warn you, I don't make records like everyone else does. Each recording I work on is taken as an individual piece and each is a unique experience.

Before tracking the first note I will spend time finding the true soul of the music. I will discuss the message of the song and make sure everyone understands it. I will then help you make all the parts fit better through critical listening, so that all of them shine through. I make real and honest records and my personal motto is "Recording Real Music, from Real Players, not just a bunch of samples and edits".

I have completely removed myself from the songwriting process and therefor I will help you deliver the most flattering representation of the written song as you the artist intended: true to its original meaning without imposing my own preconceived notions about the song. However, I will help you arrange the song to better deliver the message while retaining the originality you have worked on.

Next I don't fix bad performances or bad sound, (or record the part myself) I simply ask for another take, use a different instrument/amp, move the mic or sound source or completely change the mic and mic pre. I believe that modern recording technology should be used as a tool and not as a crutch. The sound needs to be recorded correctly so that you don't have to “fix it in the mix”. I also believe that big expensive brand name gear is great if you've got the extra money. But really, the differences in performance are not worth the extra money spent on them. I prefer equipment that I know works and does not color the sound adversely but manages to capture the true essence and soul of the instrument, as well as, the performance and soul of the player. Now just so you know, you won't find names like Neve, API or Neumann in my studio. There are plenty of places that have that gear for you and they can churn out cookie-cutter recordings that sound like everyone else all day long. That is not my goal nor should it be yours.

Also don't let the Pro Tools zombies out there scare you, ProTools is a good product and a lot of people out there use it. But it is not the only game in the DAW world and other products can and do sound better. Don't let the marketing minions tell you what sounds the best.

So when your ready, drop me an email or call. We'll sit down and talk about the project and see how I can help you reach your goals. Until then make good music not just noise for your head.
